Our Mission Statement
Next Generation Sport coach’s are all RFU qualified coaches, and fully CRB’d. The aim of our coaching is to make sessions although some times testing, always fast and fun! Equiping young players with the game skills and knowledge they need, as well as encouraging a higher level of fitness and self-discipline. We run coaching sessions and events within schools and rugby clubs as well as specialist clinics and holiday activities. Next Generation Sport takes great pride in the quality of the delivery of our coaching, and our professionalism.
Mark Kefford (Coaching Co-ordinator)
Mark has been involved in coaching at all levels for the last five years. He has worked for Premiership Rugby Clubs, National Governing Bodies and within all levels of education from Primary Schools to the Private Sector. He is currently the Head Coach of National League side Old Northamptonians RFC and is heavily involved in both player and coach development.
Mark got involved in Sport through a playing career in Rugby Union. His playing career which led from a national league side to the academy at Northampton Saints was cut short through injury and it is within coaching that his expertise and enthusiasm are put to good use.
He is an outstanding communicator and has the ability to engage people of all ages and abilities. His enthusiasm and passion for sport is infectious and NGS has given him a platform to share his knowledge and ability with a vast range of young people.
Qualifications: BA Hons Degree in Sport and Marketing, RFU Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Rugby Union, RFU Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Rugby Union, FA Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Football, Inset Hockey training, Inset Cricket Training, First Aid for Sport, Safeguarding & Protecting Children (Sports Coach UK), Physical Education Awareness Course for Adults other than a teacher, Sports Coach UK FUNdamentals of Movement.
Ben Briddon (Sports Coach)
Ben is a recent addition to Next Generation Sport. He is currently Club Coach of Northampton Mens Own RFC, since Ben's appointment in July 2011 he has overseen player & coaching development in the Senior & Youth sections. Ben will also be involved with the Mini & Junior sections when they return in September.
Ben like Mark was part of the Northampton Saints Academy until the age of 20. After leaving The Saints, he went on to playing for Old Northamptonians RFC 1st XV for 12 years (5 as Captain), Ben also enjoys playing cricket & football locally in Northampton.
Qualifications: BA/BSc Hons Degree in Information Systems and Sport, RFU Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Rugby Union, RFU Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Rugby Union, FA Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Football, First Aid for Sport, Safeguarding & Protecting Children (Sports Coach UK).
Jake Spencer (Sports Coach)
Qualifications: ECB Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Cricket, RFU Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Rugby Union, FA Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Football, First Aid for Sport, Safeguarding & Protecting Childer (Sports Coach UK), Adults Supporting Learning, (Sports Coach UK), FUNdamentals of movement certificate, Community Sports Leader, Exercise Fitness Circuit Training Level 1, Exercise Fitness Circuit Training Level 1, Btec National award in sport and exercise science, Btec National Diploma in sport and exercise science, Diploma Level 3 (Rugby), National Pool Lifeguard Qualification, Resistance Training Level 1.
